Hacking Valentine's Day On a Budget

Hack valentine's day

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and if you are smart, you should be planning right about now. Yes, I’m talking to you guys. Girls I know start planning for Feb 14th the minute the New Year party was over.

The Math of Love

Unlike most other “Valentine’s Day” articles you’ll read from today til Feb 14th, this one won’t contain too many opinions. Opinions are cheap, even the ones coming from an “expert”. Instead, I’m going to ground my recommendations based on vetted studies and data to give you the best chance of giving your special someone a memorable experience on the “most romantic day of the year” (and score points while you’re at it). Pocketbook's Valentine's Day Contest

valentine

According to a Forbes article, the average male spent $175.61 on Valentine’s Day last year and the average female spent $88.78. The figures, I assume, are based on American spending but I’ll assume they are the same for Australians.

Times are tough but we are hopeless romantics here at Pocketbook. To celebrate this season of love, Pocketbook is giving away $175.61 to one lucky winner, to help you make your dream Valentine’s Day come true – and since we are no sexist, the contest will be open to both males and females at the same amount.

Heck, go ahead and enter even if you’re single and thinks Valentine’s Day is just-another-ploy-to-get-people-to-spend-money. And that’s because while we always embrace an opportunity to show love, we also respect all views.

85 Richest People Is As Wealthy As The Bottom 3.5 Billion?!

You must have seen this by now, but we can’t resist sharing it again. According to a new Oxfam report, the 85 richest people in the world has as much wealth as the bottom 3.5 billion. You can read the full report here.

That’s… I don’t even know what word to use here.

What you might not have known is that Australia has the second highest rate in which the rich get richer:

rich

I’ve often hear people say the poor are that way because they are lazy, or *insert vice here*, and I think these numbers just show that’s simply not true. There are deeper issues at work here.

What do you think?
