Pocketbook is looking for a Journalism Intern to join our startup and help us change people’s lives (Yes, people literally said that about us).

A Bit More About Us

Pocketbook was started just over a year ago by two guys in their living room. Since then, we’ve gone from 0 to 50,000 users – and it’s not because we spend an obscene amount of money on advertising. It’s because we are building an awesome product – a product people actually want.

Pocketbook is a personal finance app that syncs with your bank account(s) and automatically detect and categorise transactions, so our users can get a whole picture view of their finances without spending hours crunching numbers.

We even do smart things with your data, like warning you when your bank charges you a fee and reminding you when you’re about to overspend. And we have big plans: in the future, we are looking to expand internationally and build the product to be the world’s leading personal finance platform.

As for now, we have a simple, modest goal: the business aims to double by the end of the year and you’ll help us do that.

What Would You Be Doing?

Among other things:

1. Write awesome blog posts. Posts people actually want to read and share.
2. Interview influencers and dig valuable insights (we’ll connect you with them).
3. Reach out to other bloggers and build a relationship.
4. Share your awesome work on the social media (we’ll train you).

How To Apply

First, a list of characteristics of our ideal candidates:

1. If you maintain a blog, or if you’ve written for any publication, make sure you send us a link to your work. If not, we’ll need a sample of your work (preferably blogging).
2. You know how to write a blog post, not an academic paper.
3. You understand the basics of what makes a good post.
4. You are comfortable interviewing people.
5. You know how to use WordPress (ideal)
6. You are at least comfortable with numbers and the basics of personal finance.
