Security is one of our top priorities at Pocketbook. To this end, we wanted to tell you about one of our services which you may not know about – Fraud Alerts.

At Pocketbook, we monitor transactions to identify potential acts of transaction fraud. Over and above what the banks may do. Should potential fraud be detected, we send our users notification emails similar to our “Large Bank Fee” or “Late Bill” alerts.
We also subscribe to ACCC’s ScamWatch and ASIC’s MoneySmart scam detection initiatives, to keep us informed of the latest fraud cases.
The purpose of these alerts is to bring potential fraud cases to our users’ attention, so they can deal with it then and there. It’s often too easy to be oblivious to these transactions even happening.
Our Latest Alert
The latest alert – Fraud Alert – Taxi Credit Card Use (FA-131022A) is an example of this. This alert affects credit card charges from an unregistered company. Possibly following paying for taxi fare with your credit or debit card via a manual swipe machine. The credit card may be charged by “F.F.G. Holding Pty Ltd” or variants (e.g.: FFG, F F G, FFG Hldg etc). Notice that this company has been deregistered by ASIC since 2011 (See ASIC search records).
In our alert, we recommend Pocketbook users review the case in detail and contact their bank at the earliest convenience if it affects them.
To make sure we get your attention, we’ll send you an email if you’re affected as well, so you don’t miss it.
You can read more about the case here.
