Important Notice

We have experienced an unexpected issue during our most recent systems update as part of our on-going infrastructure improvement activities. As a result, you may not be able to use your Pocketbook account in the next 48 hours.

We have identified the issue since the last update and successfully tested the required database change that will resolve the issue in our stage environment. Whilst the change is trivial, propagating this change in a relatively large database is taking much longer than we would like. Currently, we are estimating the propagation to last for up to 48 hours.

We are also working on a number of alternative measures to ensure you can get back to Pocketbook as soon as possible. Stay tuned for more updates.

    This update is okay, although calling the fix ‘trivial’ is a little questionable. The fix may be trivial, but the impact is huge. ‘Simple’ would have been a better choice, in my opinion at least. Also, it would be good to know why testing didn’t pick this up, and to know that our data is safe and the team is putting in place mechanisms to avoid future impact.

    Lastly, as an IT person who has been involved in a number of outages, please look after you team. Psychological safety is critical to retaining and developing talent, and blame doesn’t help anyone. Treat this as an ‘unplanned learning investment’. 👍
